Mentor Interview Questions
1) What is a typical workday like?
A:We asses animals, clean followed by a meeting. After we have a meeting, we move out and train the animals.
2) What are your main duties and responsibilities?
A: I am responsible for making sure that the animals are trained so that they could feel comfortable and she works in the behavior department.
3) How is the organization structured?
A: It's complicated. The San Diego Zoo Global is the overall company and its independent meaning that there is no city tie. We are two facilities plus the research group which makes it three, but its technically two. Our job is to promote wild life conservation.
4) Tell us about your path in getting to where you are today- what is your educational history and work experience prior to working here?
A: Always wanted to be cat trainer and I put myself in situations dealing with exotic animals. I worked in a zoo in New York and I also went to work for a while in Sea World to gain experience. Educational history: Bio major only exotic, Zoo, focused on cats, "I was just really lucky."
5) Why did you choose to work here?
A: Wanted to work with cats and other exotic animals.
6) What qualifications do employees need to be successful here and how are those qualifications acquired?
A: They must have experience with training, knowledge of animals, operand in condition in training, public speaking. Educational wise: Bio, Animal Behavior, volunteer work, hands on experience.
7) What other personality traits, skills, or knowledge are important to be successful here?
A: Must be flexible, a hard worker, team player and a non profit-understanding.
8) What advise do you have about working here?
A: Its a great job with its natural beauty and positive vibe. My advise is that, you must understand and have full dedication to this job. A commitment to take care of any living thing.
